Cream Cheese Wontons

Cream Cheese Wontons are bite-sized fried dumplings with a rich cream cheese filling flavored with sugar and grated onion. Their crispy golden exterior contrasts with the smooth, mildly sweet, and savory cream cheese mixture inside, making them a popular appetizer or snack. These wontons are sealed to be slightly open in the middle for texture and visual appeal.

Description

The filling combines softened cream cheese, sugar, and grated white onion for a lightly sweet and tangy flavor. The wonton wrappers are filled with this mixture and sealed by brushing egg wash on the edges, creating a partially open shape when fried. Deep frying until golden brown at 350°F yields crisp, tender wrappers around the creamy center.

The frying method results in crunchy edges and a soft filling, providing a textural contrast that enhances the eating experience. Serving these warm is best to enjoy the crispy shell and melty interior fully.

These cream cheese wontons are suited for appetizers, party snacks, or finger food occasions. Draining on a wire rack or paper towels removes excess oil for a lighter bite. They are best served fresh without prolonged storage to retain crispness.
