Cream Cheese Wontons Recipe

Cream Cheese Wontons are crisp, golden fried pockets filled with a seasoned cream cheese blend incorporating lemon pepper, garlic pepper, and paprika. Using egg roll or wonton wrappers, the cream cheese filling is wrapped into small squares and fried until all sides turn golden and crispy, creating bite-sized snacks ideal with dipping sauces.

Description

This recipe creates Cream Cheese Wontons by blending softened cream cheese with lemon pepper, garlic pepper, and paprika for a distinct savory filling. Small wrapper squares are filled with a teaspoon of this mixture, sealed with water to create tight edges, and deep fried in hot oil until the wrappers develop a crunchy, golden crust while the filling inside remains smooth and flavorful.

The crisp exterior contrasts the creamy, spiced cheese inside, making these wontons a good appetizer, snack, or party finger food. Careful frying ensures an even golden-brown color without oiliness. The use of common spices yields a straightforward but tasty filling.

Leftover wontons should be stored in an airtight container and can be reheated in the oven at 300°F for 5–10 minutes to re-crisp the exterior and warm the filling without sogginess. Frying temperature variability means cooking time may need slight adjustment to achieve ideal doneness.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened, regular
  • 1 teaspoon lemon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic pepper
  • ½-1 teaspoon paprika
  • egg roll wrappers or won ton wrappers

Instructions

  1. Heat 1-2 inches of oil in a small frying pan on medium heat.
  2. Mix spices into softened cream cheese until well incorporated.
  3. If you have egg roll wrappers, slice them with a pizza cutter into 4 small squares. Won Ton wrappers are already cut to the size you need.
  4. Using a small ice cream scoop place teaspoon-sized ball in center of square wrapper. Dip your finger in water and spread on the four corners of the wrapper and fold up.
  5. When oil is hot, fry until all sides are golden brown. Depending on how hot your oil is, you may need to fry for a shorter or longer amount of time. Enjoy with yummy sweet and sour sauce!

Notes

  • Store leftover wontons in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
  • Reheat in a 300°F oven for 5 to 10 minutes to restore crispness without overcooking.
