Creamy Caramel Apple Taquitos

Creamy Caramel Apple Taquitos feature tender cooked apples spiced with cinnamon and sugar, combined with a sweet cream cheese and caramel filling, all rolled in flour tortillas. Baked until golden and crisp, these taquitos offer a balance of soft fruit filling and a crunchy exterior, finished with cinnamon sugar. They're a handheld dessert with comforting autumnal flavors, perfect for serving warm with extra caramel for dipping.

Description

This dessert starts with peeled, cored, and diced apples cooked gently in butter, sugar, and ground cinnamon until soft but not mushy, retaining some texture. The apples combine with a smooth cream cheese and caramel syrup mixture, providing a creamy, sweet contrast to the spiced fruit. The mixture is spooned onto small flour tortillas and rolled tightly.

The rolled taquitos are brushed with melted butter and rolled in a cinnamon-sugar mixture before baking, which crisps the tortilla shell to a golden brown while caramelizing the sugar coating. Baking rather than frying reduces grease, resulting in a lighter yet still crisp texture. The result is a dessert showcasing warm spices, tender fruit, creamy caramel, and a crunchy shell.

Serving these with additional caramel syrup adds moisture and intensifies the caramel flavor, making them ideal for a seasonal treat or casual sweet snack that can be assembled quickly and baked in under 20 minutes.
