Creamy Shrimp Gnocchi
Description
This Creamy Shrimp Gnocchi recipe features gnocchi simmered in a garlic-infused sauce made from olive oil, butter, white wine, broth, and heavy cream. After cooking the gnocchi gently under a lid, peeled and deveined shrimp are added and cooked until just opaque, preserving their texture. Baby spinach stirred in last provides a fresh, leafy component that slightly softens in the warm sauce.
The flavor balances the slight acidity of white wine with the richness of cream, while garlic and herbs provide aromatic depth. Gnocchi absorb the flavors while maintaining a tender, pillowy bite. The shrimp lend a light seafood richness without overpowering the creamy sauce.
This dish can be served garnished with freshly chopped parsley for added freshness. It works well as a standalone entrée for dinner, capturing comfort with an elegant seafood twist. The recipe notes suggest flexibility with white wine types and broth choices, advising against substituting half and half for cream to prevent sauce separation.
Using dried shelf-stable gnocchi is convenient, and the recipe advises thawing frozen gnocchi before use. The combination of careful simmering and frequent stirring during shrimp cooking helps maintain a smooth, cohesive sauce.
