Creamy Tomatillo Avocado Salsa

This salsa combines boiled jalapeños, tomatillos, onion, and garlic blended with fresh cilantro, salt, pepper, and ripe avocado to create a smooth, creamy sauce. The result is a tangy, slightly spicy salsa with a silky texture and rich avocado flavor. It pairs well with tacos, burritos, or eggs for a fresh, versatile condiment.

Description

Creamy Tomatillo Avocado Salsa starts with boiling jalapeños, tomatillos, white onion, and garlic until tender to soften their flavors. Once cooled, these cooked vegetables are blended with fresh cilantro, salt, and black pepper until smooth. The inclusion of ripe avocado, blended last, gives the salsa a creamy consistency and mellow richness that balances the acidity and heat from the tomatillos and jalapeños.

The salsa’s smooth texture and layered flavors make it ideal for topping tacos, adding creaminess to burritos, or dolloping over eggs. The combination of tangy tomatillo and cool avocado offers a refreshing and well-rounded complement to a variety of Mexican-inspired dishes.

For an alternative flavor profile, you can roast the vegetables instead of boiling to add a smoky depth to the salsa.

Notes

  • Roasting the tomatillos, jalapeños, onion, and garlic instead of boiling adds a smoky flavor to the salsa.
