  • 450 g fresh okra
  • 1 medium egg
  • 2 tablespoon semi-skimmed or full-fat milk
  • 40 g cornmeal
  • 40 g plain white flour / all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Spray oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 195° C (380° F).
  2. Rinse the okra and pat it dry with a paper towel. Trim the ends if desired.
  3. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg and milk along with half of the paprika, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, mix the cornmeal and flour along with the other half of the paprika, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  5. Dip each okra pod into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat it thoroughly with the cornmeal mixture.
  6. Place the coated okra in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do it in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the okra pods.
  7. Lightly spray the okra with oil for added crispiness.
  8. Cook the okra in the air fryer for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  9. Once the okra is golden brown and crispy, remove it from the air fryer and serve immediately.

  • Select fresh and vibrant okra pods for the best flavor and texture. Look for pods that are firm, bright green, and free from any blemishes or soft spots.
