Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large egg room temperature
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • vegetable oil for frying, about 1 inch thick in a heavy-bottomed pot

For Serving

  • powdered sugar for dusting after frying
  • chocolate sauce or white chocolate sauce
  • strawberry sauce
  • caramel sauce or salted caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat about 1 inch of oil in a heavy-bottomed deep pot on medium heat.
  2. Prepare a plate lined with a paper towel and set it aside.
  3. In a large bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  4. In a medium-deep bowl whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.
  5. Slowly combine the wet and dry mixtures to create a smooth batter with no lumps.
  6. Transfer the batter to a squeeze bottle or batter dispenser.
  7. When the oil has reached 375 degrees, carefully pipe the batter in strips into the hot oil. (Try not to overcrowd the pot).

Notes

  •
  • Mix your batter until it is totally smooth with absolutely no lumps.
  • Don't crowd your skillet or deep fryer when making these or they'll be soggy instead of crispy.
  • Let the fries cool a bit before serving so they're as crisp as possible.
