Crispy Orange Beef

Crispy Orange Beef combines thinly sliced flank steak coated in cornstarch and pan-fried for a crisp exterior, then tossed in a tangy orange sauce made from orange juice, vinegar, sugar, and ginger. The ginger and garlic add a fragrant depth, while the optional orange zest brightens the flavor. The result is tender yet crisp beef strips coated in a sticky, citrus-flavored glaze, offering a balance of savory, sweet, and sour tastes. This dish is well-suited for serving with rice or noodles to complement the sauce.

Description

Crispy Orange Beef features thin slices of flank steak that are marinated briefly in soy sauce, then coated with cornstarch to achieve a light, crispy texture when fried. Cooking the beef in batches ensures even browning and prevents overcrowding in the pan. After frying, most of the oil is drained, leaving a small amount to sauté fresh ginger and garlic, which provide aromatic warmth to the orange sauce. The sauce itself is a combination of sugar, rice wine vinegar, orange juice, and optional orange zest, creating a harmonious balance of sweetness and acidity. Tossing the crispy beef back into the sauce coats each piece evenly, resulting in a glossy finish.

This preparation makes for a flavorful entrée that pairs nicely with steamed rice or stir-fried vegetables, allowing the crisp texture and tangy sauce to shine alongside more subtle side dishes.
