Crock pot Green Chili Stew Recipe

Report
Crock pot Green Chili Stew features tender pork chunks, diced potatoes, salsa verde, and chicken broth slowly cooked together for several hours. The stew develops a mildly spicy and tangy flavor profile from the salsa verde, combined with savory pork and soft potatoes. Cilantro added before serving adds fresh herbal notes. This hands-off slow cooker recipe yields a comforting meal with a balanced texture and flavor.

Description

This green chili stew cooks lean pork chop pieces coated in flour with seasoning. The ingredients are layered in the crock pot with chopped onions, diced white potatoes, salsa verde, and chicken broth. Cooking on low for 6-8 hours allows the pork and potatoes to become tender and absorb the sauce’s flavors. The salsa verde provides a bright, mildly spicy, and tangy character, while the flour coating helps thicken the stew slightly during cooking.

The method is straightforward, relying on slow, moist heat to soften the ingredients and meld flavors. Fresh cilantro added as a garnish brings an aromatic freshness to the finished dish.

This stew pairs well with warm flour tortillas, which complement the sauce and provide a vehicle for scooping up the stew. The meal serves as a filling lunch or dinner and benefits from slow cooking to maximize tenderness and flavor.
