Crock Pot Spaghetti Sauce
Description
The Crock Pot Spaghetti Sauce recipe combines browned ground beef and Italian sausage with a robust mix of tomato ingredients, including diced, crushed, and paste tomatoes, plus tomato sauce, creating a layered tomato flavor and a thick texture. Diced onions, garlic, and green bell pepper add depth and a slight bite, complemented by Italian seasoning and a touch of Worcestershire sauce for savoriness. The sauce simmers slowly in a crock pot, allowing flavors to meld and the meat to tenderize. Fresh parsley and basil stirred in just before serving deliver herbaceous brightness and freshness.
This sauce pairs naturally with spaghetti or other pasta cooked to firm tenderness, allowing the sauce to cling well without making the dish mushy. Garnishing with additional fresh herbs adds color and fresh aroma at serving time. The slow cooking is convenient for planning meals ahead, and the sauce can be frozen on its own, as it pairs best freshly combined with pasta when served.
To prepare, cook the pasta al dente in salted water without rinsing to ensure the sauce adheres. Stir in fresh herbs at the last minute to preserve their flavor. Storage tips include freezing the sauce separately and cooking fresh pasta at serving time for best texture.
