Crock Pot Taco Meat
Description
The Crock Pot Taco Meat features ground beef simmered gently in tomato sauce and a combination of chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cooking the raw beef directly in the crock pot without pre-browning lets the spices meld well, creating a flavorful and tender taco filling. The slow cooker method also keeps the meat juicy while allowing excess liquid to cook off if left uncovered briefly at the end. This preparation suits taco bars or casual meals where toppings can be customized.
After cooking, simply scoop the seasoned meat into taco shells, burritos, or serve alongside tortilla chips and desired toppings such as sour cream, salsa, cheese, and fresh avocado to add texture and balance. Its straightforward method and slow cooking approach make it easy to have warm taco meat ready with minimal active time.
According to the notes, you don’t need to brown the beef first, and cooked meat can be kept warm in the crock pot on the 'warm' setting during parties. Leftover cooked taco meat stores well for 3 to 4 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator, offering flexibility for meal planning.
