Crockpot Candied Yams

Crockpot Candied Yams offer tender, sweet bites of peeled sweet potatoes simmered slowly with brown sugar, warm spices like cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg, and rich butter. The slow cooking in a crockpot melds the flavors while softening the yams until they easily yield to a fork, creating a saucy, sweet side dish ideal for holiday meals or cozy dinners.

Description

The Crockpot Candied Yams recipe centers around peeled and chopped sweet potatoes cooked gently in a slow cooker. Brown sugar and butter create a luscious base while the addition of ground cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and kosher salt deepen the flavor profile with aromatic warmth and a subtle savory balance.

Cooking the ingredients together on high heat for several hours allows the yams to soften thoroughly and the sugar to turn into a thick syrup coating each piece. This method requires occasional stirring midway to ensure even cooking and flavor distribution.

Serve the candied yams hot as a comforting side, especially fitting alongside roasted meats or festive spreads. The butter contributes richness while the spices lend a classic autumnal touch.

Stored properly in an airtight container, leftovers keep up to four days and can be reheated gently in an oven to maintain their texture and warmth. This recipe’s slow cooker convenience frees stove space and makes preparation straightforward.
