Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups chicken broth
- 2 .5-ounce cans cream of chicken soup
- 2 .85-ounce packets chicken gravy mix
- 1 ½ - 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts about 3-4 breasts
- 1 teaspoons garlic powder
- ½ teaspoons onion salt
- ½ teaspoons black pepper
- Parsley for Garnish
Instructions
- Make the gravy. In the basin of your crockpot, whisk the broth, cream of chicken soup and gravy mix until smooth and set aside.
- Season the chicken. Season both sides of your chicken with garlic powder, onion salt, pepper and add the chicken to the crockpot.
- Cook. Cook on low 6 hours or high 3 hours. When the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F, turn the crockpot off.
- Shred the chicken. Once cooked, shred the chicken in the crockpot with 2 forks and mix with the surrounding gravy. Its going to look a bit watery, trust the process! It will thicken and mix well once stirred.
- Garnish. Garnish with parsley and serve warm. Try it over mashed potatoes!
Notes
- This dish is just as good served with the chicken breasts served whole or diced into pieces.
- Start by searing the chicken and then mix together the gravy ingredients in a Dutch oven. Nestle the chicken in the pot and cook on the stove over low heat until the chicken is done or you can cook it in the oven for 1 ½ hours at 350° F.
- Add some chopped garlic and fresh herbs like thyme and sage or some Italian seasoning to the gravy for depth of flavor.
