Crockpot Marry Me Chicken
Description
This recipe begins by lightly browning chicken breasts to develop surface color and flavor before placing them in a slow cooker. The sauce is mixed from chicken stock, cornstarch, heavy cream, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, onion powder, and paprika, providing a savory, creamy base with herbal and mild smoky notes.
Sun-dried tomatoes and pats of butter are added on top before slow cooking on low or high heat for several hours. This process softens the chicken thoroughly and thickens the sauce, creating a hearty, smooth texture with concentrated flavor from the slow melding of ingredients.
The dish is finished with fresh basil for an aromatic touch and is typically served over pasta to absorb the creamy sauce. It presents a balanced profile of tender poultry with a rich yet approachable creamy tomato-herb sauce.
Variations include using chicken thighs, adding vegetables like spinach or mushrooms, and topping with Parmesan cheese. The chicken can be sliced or shredded before serving, allowing flexible presentation options.
