Crockpot Pumpkin Butter

Crockpot Pumpkin Butter is a slow-cooked spread made by combining pumpkin puree with brown sugar, apple juice, lemon juice, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract. The slow cooking process thickens the mixture into a smooth, richly spiced butter with a sweet and warm flavor profile. It is ideal for spreading on toast or as a dessert topping.

Description

This recipe uses canned pumpkin puree, brown sugar for sweetness, apple juice and lemon juice for mild acidity, pumpkin pie spice for warm aromatics, and vanilla extract for aroma. Cooking these ingredients in a crockpot on high heat allows the flavors to meld and the mixture to reduce to a thick, buttery texture. Stirring at intervals prevents sticking and ensures even thickening.

The pumpkin butter balances sweetness with spice and subtle fruit notes, yielding a spreadable consistency. It works well on bread, muffins, or as a topping for ice cream or pancakes, offering seasonal flavor during autumn and winter months.

Practical tips include using pumpkin puree (not pie filling) for the correct consistency and flavor. Apple cider can be substituted for apple juice to adjust sweetness and tartness. Cooling and refrigerating the butter will thicken it further, and cooking time may vary depending on the slow cooker used.
