Croissant French Toast Casserole

The Croissant French Toast Casserole transforms day-old croissant cubes soaked in a spiced custard of eggs, milk, half and half, and sugars into a golden-baked breakfast or brunch dish. Chopped pecans add a crunchy texture contrast, while the optional vanilla glaze offers a sweet finish. The recipe balances custard and bread to avoid sogginess, and the warming spices provide familiar comforting flavors.

Description

The Croissant French Toast Casserole combines cubed croissants, which are slightly stale to absorb custard effectively, with a custard mixture of eggs, milk, half and half, brown and white sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Baking the mixture at 350°F until golden brown yields a custardy interior and crispy edges. Chopped pecans introduce textural interest and subtle flavor depth. An optional glaze of powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla can be drizzled on top for added sweetness and moisture. The recipe notes highlight the importance of croissant age and custard ratios to prevent sogginess and ensure the casserole sets properly. Serving with fresh berries adds a fresh contrast.
