Crumbl Chocolate Chip Cookie Copycat Recipe

This copycat recipe replicates the signature Crumbl chocolate chip cookies featuring a mix of cake and all-purpose flours for texture, creamed cold butter with sugars for richness, and milk chocolate chips. The large cookie dough portions bake to a golden edge with a soft, set center.

Description

The Crumbl Chocolate Chip Cookie Copycat Recipe combines cold butter creamed with brown and white sugars, eggs, and vanilla extract to create a rich dough. A blend of cake flour and all-purpose flour with cornstarch, baking soda, and salt adds to the tender yet slightly chewy texture. Milk chocolate chips provide a sweet, creamy chocolate element throughout.

Cookies are portioned to 5-6 ounces per ball for even baking on a parchment-lined, light-colored baking sheet to prevent bottom burning. They bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 9 to 12 minutes until edges are lightly golden and the center remains soft but set after resting 10 minutes post-bake.

This recipe yields large, bakery-style cookies ideal for sharing or as dessert treats. The texture contrast between crisp edges and a tender center is a hallmark of this style.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 cup butter cut into small cubes, cold
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup + 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 2 large egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips Guittard brand

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and sugar for at least 4 minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl often.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla and mix for 1 minute longer.
  3. Stir in cake flour, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt just until mixed. Fold in milk chocolate chips.
  4. If you have a digital scale, weigh each ball of dough to be between 5-6 ounces. Once you decide on a weight, keep it consistent to the cookies bake evenly. Place on parchment paper lined baking sheet. Light colored baking sheets work best. Dark colored baking sheets hold too much heat and can burn the bottoms of the cookies.
  5. Bake for 9-12 minutes, watching carefully.  Let sit for at least 10 minutes to allow the center of the cookie to set up.
