Cuban Sandwich
Description
The Cuban Sandwich features a split loaf of traditional Cuban bread generously spread with a mixture of mayonnaise, mustard, and hot sauce that adds creaminess and tang. It is layered with slices of Swiss cheese, dill pickles for acidity and crunch, thinly sliced ham, and pulled pork for a combination of smoky and savory meats.
The assembled sandwich is then buttered on the outside and grilled on a griddle using a heavy skillet or bacon press to apply even pressure. The grilling process crisps the bread to a golden brown crust while warming the fillings and melting the cheese, bringing together the flavors and textures harmoniously.
This sandwich serves well as a hearty lunch or casual dinner and pairs nicely with simple sides like chips or a light salad. The pressing technique is key for achieving the classic crispness and melted filling that defines the Cuban Sandwich.
