Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries combine ripe but firm strawberries dipped in melted dark chocolate blended with avocado oil for smoothness. Chilled before serving, they offer a contrast of juicy fruit and rich chocolate with a glossy finish, ideal as an elegant treat or dessert.

Description

This recipe coats strawberries with melted dark chocolate mixed with a little avocado oil to improve the texture and shine. Using medium-sized strawberries ensures firm, juicy berries that pair well with the bittersweet chocolate coating. The dipping method involves fully immersing and swirling to evenly cover each strawberry, then setting them on wax paper to firm up.

Chilling in the refrigerator for 30 minutes allows the chocolate to solidify while preserving the freshness of the strawberries. When eaten soon after preparation, the strawberries remain firm without becoming mushy, maintaining a pleasant balance of textures between the smooth chocolate and the fruit.

These chocolate-covered strawberries are suitable as a simple dessert, festive snack, or party offering, requiring minimal ingredients but delivering a classic flavor combination.

Use only the amount of chocolate needed for coating to avoid waste, and store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days for best quality. Freezing is not recommended as it affects texture.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 ounces strawberries ripe but firm; 12 medium strawberries
  • 3 ounces dark chocolate chips see notes below
  • 1 teaspoon avocado oil

Instructions

  1. Line a plate or a tray with wax paper. Wash the strawberries and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt them in the microwave in 30-second sessions, stirring after each session. They should be mostly melted after three such sessions.
  3. Stir the oil into the melted chocolate.
  4. Dip each strawberry into the melted chocolate. Lift up and twist around to remove any excess chocolate. Place on the wax paper.
  5. Chill the strawberries in the fridge for 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Reserve some chocolate after melting, as not all will be used for dipping.
  • Medium strawberries provide consistent firmness and sweet flavor inside.
  • Consume on the same day for best texture; store leftovers refrigerated uncovered for up to two days.
  • Avoid freezing to preserve chocolate and berry texture.
