Dark Chocolate Mint Sauce
Description
Dark Chocolate Mint Sauce combines basic pantry ingredients like sugar, kosher salt, and cocoa powder with butter and evaporated milk to form a creamy and luscious dessert sauce. The recipe starts by whisking dry ingredients with evaporated milk, then melting butter into the mixture while heating it until boiling. After removing from heat, peppermint extract enhances the flavor with its distinctive mint aroma. The sauce cools slightly before serving, allowing it to thicken enough to spoon easily over ice cream. The preparation is straightforward and careful whisking prevents lumps.
The resulting sauce is both sweet and slightly salty, with a rich chocolate taste balanced by refreshing peppermint notes. The butter adds a velvety texture, making it smooth rather than grainy or thick.
This sauce can be stored in sealed jars in the refrigerator for up to a week and is best reheated gently before use. It can complement ice cream, cakes, or other desserts where a chocolate mint accent is desired.
