  • 1/2 Cup cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water

For the Frosting:

  • 2 Tbsp butter Melted, unsalted
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 Tbsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

For the Cake:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8x8 baking dish. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the all purpose flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt and baking soda.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the vanilla, vinegar, oil and water.
  4. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients with a hand held mixer until they are thoroughly combined.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool completely before topping with the frosting.

For the Frosting:

  1. Stir together the butter and cocoa into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add in the remaining ingredients and combine with a hand held mixer until the frosting is combined and smooth.
