Ingredients
- Cricut Iron-On
- Cricut Weeder
- Cricut Rotary Blade comes with Cricut Maker
- Cricut FabricGrip Mat
- Cricut StandardGrip Mat
- Cricut Fabric Pen optional
- Batting
- Scissors both fabric and regular scissors
- Cotton Fabric enough to cut six blocks of 4x4 fabric
- Thread
- needle
- Dice Cricut Design
Instructions
- Determine your fabric, iron-on, and design that you'll be using.
- Open DIY dice design in Cricut Design Space and unhide squares you'll need to cut fabric. Finalize design and select Make It.
- Place fabric right side down onto FabricGrip mat and load into Cricut Maker. Follow on-screen prompts to cut fabric squares in all fabrics you're using.
- Place iron-on vinyl shiny side down onto the StandardGrip mat and load into Cricut Maker. Mirror image then follow on-screen prompts to cut fabric squares in all iron-on vinyl colors you're using.
- If necessary, use weeder to remove any excess vinyl backing from design.
- Use Cricut EasyPress to iron vinyl onto fabric squares. Remove backing once cooled. Repeat with all squares.
- Sew blocks into a cross with one extra block on one of the sides, right sides sewn to right sides.
- Fold the cross diagonal and sew two sides (see images in post for details) together.
- Unfold the cross, fold diagonally the other direction, and sewing the remaining sides together.
- Sew two of the three remaining sides of the dice top to the sides of the dice so you have one remaining open flap.
- Carefully reach in and pull the fabric inside out so that the right side of the fabric is now on the outside.
- Stuff the dice with batting.
- Hand sew the top shut using either a ladder or whipstitch.
Notes
- Make sure to toggle the mirror tab to on before you cut your design. Your iron-on needs to be cut mirrored so that it shows up correctly when you iron it onto the fabric.
- As you are sewing this part, make sure to arrange your blocks in a way that all of the sides will be facing the same direction and so that your various fabrics are separated from one another.
- One thing to always keep in mind is that right sides are ALWAYS sewn together with right sides. And when I say right sides, I mean the front side of the fabric, or the fabric you want showing on the outside of the DIY dice.
