Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas peeled and mashed
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 3.5 ounces dark chocolate chopped (or chocolate chips)
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Heat your oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare a loaf by greasing it with non-stick cooking spray or lining it with parchment paper. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cocoa powder, and chopped chocolate. Set aside.
- In a large bowl mix together the vegetable oil, brown sugar, and eggs. Add the mashed bananas and whisk until smooth.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, being careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top of the bread.
- Bake for 50-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out mostly clean. (Since there is chocolate in the batter you might get some melted chocolate on the toothpick. That is no problem, you just don´t want gooey batter on it.)
- Remove from the oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting into slices.
Notes
- Nutrition is based on 1 loaf cut into 8 slices.
- Variations:
- You can use different kinds of chocolate like milk, semi-sweet, or even white chocolate (in the batter, not on top) to your liking.
- Add some spices like ground cinnamon or pumpkin spice for a fall/winter flavor.
- Drizzle with melted chocolate after baking instead of sprinkling with chocolate chips before baking for a nice chocolate glaze.
