Dr Pepper Ham

Dr Pepper Ham is a slow-cooked boneless spiral ham coated with a thickened glaze made from pineapple juice, brown sugar, honey, and Dr Pepper soda. The glaze caramelizes when broiled, creating a shiny, flavorful crust. The sweet and tangy ingredients combine to enhance the ham’s savory profile, making it suitable for holiday meals or gatherings.

Description

This recipe features a boneless, spiral-sliced ham slow cooked with a glaze made by simmering pineapple juice, brown sugar, honey, and Dr Pepper until reduced and thick. The slow cooker method gently warms the ham while soaking it in sweetened juices, which infuse throughout the meat. Finishing the ham under the broiler caramelizes the glaze’s sugars, providing a glossy, crispy coating that contrasts with the tender ham.

The combination of pineapple and Dr Pepper introduces fruity sweetness and subtle spice. The brown sugar and honey add depth and balance to the glaze’s flavor profile. This preparation suits special occasions where a large, flavorful ham centerpiece is desired.

After slow cooking and glazing, the ham can be sliced and served warm. Watch carefully under the broiler to avoid burning the sugary glaze. The residual juices and glaze make a natural accompaniment for serving.
