Dracula’s Dentures for Halloween
Description
This Halloween-themed recipe uses refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough baked into cookies that are halved to form playful vampire mouths. The bottoms of the cookie halves are frosted with red-tinted vanilla frosting to resemble gums. Miniature marshmallows arranged around the edge imitate teeth, with an additional marshmallow sometimes placed behind for support. The top cookie halves are gently pressed on top, slightly behind the marshmallows so the "teeth" remain visible.
Almond slivers inserted between the marshmallow teeth serve as vampire fangs, enhancing the spooky look. For those with nut allergies, pumpkin seeds or white gummy candy slices can be used as alternative fangs. The assembled treats combine the cookie’s chewy texture, the softness of marshmallows, and the creamy frosting for a fun mix of flavors and textures.
These treats work well for Halloween parties or as playful snacks, offering an easy and thematic way to serve cookies with a twist. They provide an engaging activity to prepare with kids or guests due to their assembly process and thematic presentation.
Ingredients
- 1 package (18.25 ounces refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough or your favorite cookie recipe)
- 1/2 /2 cup vanilla frosting tinted red, prepared
- 1 3/4 /4 cups miniature marshmallows
- 48 almonds see Note, slivered
Instructions
- Prepare cookies as directed on package or according to your favorite recipe. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire rack to cool completely. Cut each cookie in half for a total of 48 halves.
- Frost the bottoms of all cookie halves with frosting. Place 6 marshmallow teeth around curved perimeter of 24 halves. For additional support, an additional marshmallow can be placed behind the teeth. Top with remaining 24 halves just slightly behind the marshmallows so that they show. Insert two almond slivers in between teeth for fangs. If fangs do not adhere, dip tips into frosting.
Notes
- If allergic to nuts, substitute almond fangs with pumpkin seeds or a slice of white gummy candy.
- Allow cookies to cool completely before assembling to prevent frosting from melting.
