Dump Cake Recipe

The Dump Cake Recipe layers cherry pie filling, crushed pineapple, and yellow cake mix in a baking dish topped with butter, baking to create a textured cake with fruit bubbling beneath a golden crust. This hands-off dessert offers a combination of tart and sweet flavors and is often served warm with ice cream.

Description

This dump cake starts with spreading canned cherry pie filling as the base, followed by crushed pineapple evenly poured over the top. A layer of dry yellow cake mix is then sprinkled to cover the fruit. Butter is added on top first melted and poured, then cut into pieces to dot the surface before baking.

Baking at 325ºF for around 40 minutes melts the butter and cake mix together, forming a crisp golden topping while the fruit layer bubbles underneath, combining tart cherry and sweet pineapple flavors. The contrast between the crunchy cake crust and juicy fruit filling is a characteristic of this dessert.

Serve the cake warm, optionally paired with ice cream to balance the tartness and enhance creaminess. The recipe notes that canned pineapple sizes may differ slightly but any within 15 to 20 ounces works fine. Nutrition info can vary by brand and should be used as a general reference.
