Dunkaroo Dip (Low Calorie + High Protein)
Description
Dunkaroo Dip combines Greek yogurt or cream cheese with heat-treated rainbow cake mix to ensure safety, plus vanilla-flavored protein powder for added nutrition. Sweeteners including zero-calorie sweetener and liquid stevia offer control over sweetness without added sugar. The mixture is whipped smooth with vanilla extract and folded with rainbow sprinkles for color and a subtle bite. Chilling the dip enhances flavor melding and thickens the texture.
Its smooth and creamy consistency is ideal for dipping animal crackers, pretzels, apples, or cookies, providing a sweet yet moderately high-protein option that differs from traditional sugary dips. The protein powder also contributes some flavor and sweetness, balancing the cake mix and yogurt.
To maintain freshness and texture, the dip can be refrigerated for up to seven days or frozen for up to three months. Defrosting overnight in the fridge is recommended to preserve consistency. Using gluten-free cake mix makes this dip suitable for those avoiding gluten.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Greek yogurt or 8-oz. cream cheese, for thicker dip
- 1/2 cup cake mix rainbow, 64g
- 1/2 cup protein powder vanilla (45g
- 1/4 cup zero-calorie sweetener of choice, or sugar, 48g
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp stevia or other sweetener until desired sweetness, liquid form
- 2 Tbsp Rainbow sprinkles 24g
Instructions
- To heat treat cake mix, add the cake mix to a large microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, until the cake mix temperature reaches 165 degrees F (74 degrees C) with an instant read thermometer. Mix with a spoon in between intervals. Each microwave is different, but mine takes about 3 intervals. Once heat treated, let cake mix cool.
- Add the yogurt (or cream cheese), rainbow cake mix, protein powder, sweetener, vanilla and stevia. Beat with a hand mixer for 2-3 minutes or until smooth.
- Test the batter and add more sweetener, if desired. Fold in the sprinkles.
- Store in the fridge for 1-2 hours or in the freezer for 30 minutes before serving. The longer it sits, the more the flavors come together, and the better it is! Best if made a day in advance and stored in the fridge overnight.
- Serve with dippers like animal crackers, pretzels, apples, graham crackers, or cookies and enjoy!
Notes
- Store the dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
- Defrost frozen dip overnight in the refrigerator to retain the best texture.
- Using gluten-free cake mix allows a gluten-free version of the dip.
- Adjust sweetness gradually, as protein powder adds some sweetness naturally.
- Clear vanilla extract helps keep the dip color light, but pure vanilla can be used.
