Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 22 ounces blueberry pie filling one can, this can vary slightly
  • 12 ounces Sprite one can

Instructions

  1. Spread blueberry pie filling evenly over the bottom of the dutch oven.
  2. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the top.
  3. Pour Sprite evenly over the top.
  4. Place lid on the dutch oven and place about 15 coals on top and 5-8 underneath.
  5. Bake for 20-30 minutes, until the top is brown and bubbly.

To Bake in the Oven

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. Bake prepared cobbler for 20-30 minutes until the top is brown and bubbly.

Notes

  • Check for doneness by carefully lifting the lid straight up and off, not tilted. Tilting can cause ash to fall into your dessert. The top should be golden brown and feel set when gently pressed with a spoon.
  • For extra indulgence, consider letting the cobbler rest for 5-10 minutes after it's done. This allows the blueberry filling to thicken slightly and makes serving much easier. Plus, it'll still be plenty warm for adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream if you're feeling fancy!
  • Create a DIY cobbler sundae bar with different toppings like whipped cream, chopped nuts, fresh berries, and maybe even some caramel sauce. It's become our traditional birthday celebration dessert when camping!
  • For breakfast the next day (yes, I said breakfast!), warm up any leftovers and serve with a dollop of Greek yogurt and a drizzle of maple syrup. It's absolutely divine with morning coffee, and I won't tell if you don't!
