Easiest 3 Ingredient Peppermint Bark

This peppermint bark consists of two layers melted and chilled almond bark with a melted candy cane chocolate topping and crushed candy canes sprinkled on top. It creates a layered bark with a crisp, sweet texture combining smooth white chocolate with a refreshing peppermint crunch. It is great for holiday treats or gifting and can be broken easily into pieces for serving or storing.

Description

The Easiest 3 Ingredient Peppermint Bark is made by melting almond bark into a smooth white chocolate layer, which is then chilled to set. Next, a layer of melted candy cane chocolates is spread evenly over the first layer, immediately topped with crushed candy canes, and chilled again. This method creates a firm bark with a contrast of creamy white chocolate and peppermint texture from the crushed candy canes. The recipe uses simple ingredients and straightforward melting and chilling steps to produce a classic peppermint bark suitable for snacking or gifts.

The layered technique ensures distinct sweet and peppermint components. The crushed candy canes add a festive crunch and fresh peppermint flavor to the creamy base. The bark breaks easily into bite-sized pieces once chilled, making it convenient for serving at holiday parties or as a sweet gift treat.

Chilling times are short but essential to set each layer properly, and the almond bark base gives a smooth, solid foundation. This recipe is flexible to chocolate variations but is best with white almond bark for the traditional peppermint bark look and flavor.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 24 ounces almond bark (see note for alternate options!)
  • 1 bag Hershey Candy Cane Kisses OR 6 bars Hershey Candy Cane Bars, unwrapped
  • ½ cup candy canes crushed

Instructions

  1. Line a large baking sheet with wax paper or a silpat baking mat.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl melt almond bark (you may need to chop it in half to get it to fit in a bowl) at half power for 2 minutes. Return to microwave for 20 seconds at a time, stirring after each until smooth.
  3. Pour onto prepared pan and use a rubber spatula or a spoon to spread into an even 1/4-inch thick layer. Chill in the fridge for 10 minutes or in the freezer 5 minutes.
  4. While chocolate is chilling, melt candy cane kisses or bars in a microwave-safe bowl at half power for 2 minutes. Return to microwave for 20 seconds at a time, stirring after each until smooth.
  5. Pour over chilled chocolate layer using a spatula or spoon to spread evenly. Immediately sprinkle crushed candy canes on top. Chill in the fridge for 10 minutes or in the freezer 5 minutes.
  6. Use a butter knife to break bark into pieces and serve or store up to 3 weeks.

Notes

  • You can substitute almond bark with melting chocolate, baking chocolate bars, or white chocolate if desired.
  • Use crushed candy canes freshly for the best peppermint crunch and appearance.
  • Store the peppermint bark in an airtight container for up to three weeks to maintain freshness.
