Easy 15-min. Panda Express Chow Mein

Panda Express Chow Mein combines fresh chow mein noodles with sliced cabbage, celery, and onions, quickly stir-fried and coated in a savory sauce made from soy sauces, oyster or vegetarian stir fry sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and a touch of chicken stock and cornstarch for body. The result is tender, flavorful noodles and crisp-tender vegetables tossed together for a balanced texture and rich umami taste.

Description

This 15-minute chow mein starts by mixing a sauce from standard Asian pantry ingredients, delivering a blend of salty, sweet, and savory flavors. Fresh chow mein noodles are briefly blanched just until loosened to retain chew, then combined with stir-fried cabbage, celery, and onions sautéed until softened. The noodles and sauce are added to the pan, quickly tossed to coat evenly and finish cooking, ensuring the vegetables maintain slight crunch while the noodles absorb the sauce.

The method delivers a flavorful dish with classic textural contrasts between tender noodles and crisp vegetables. It mimics the Panda Express style chow mein, focusing on quick preparation and balanced seasoning.

This recipe is suitable for a fast dinner or side dish and can be adjusted by including additional vegetables or proteins if desired.
