Easy 3 Ingredient Blackened Chicken Recipe

This recipe delivers a simple blackened chicken breast cooked in butter with a poultry seasoning blend called Poultry Magic. The chicken is cooked in a cast iron skillet to create a flavorful crust without moving the meat during searing. The butter adds richness and helps develop a slight crust while the seasoning gives it a mild spiced flavor. Resting the chicken after cooking helps retain juices for a tender result. This straightforward method produces a juicy, spiced chicken breast that can be ready in under 15 minutes.

Description

Easy 3 Ingredient Blackened Chicken Recipe features a single chicken breast seasoned with Poultry Magic seasoning and cooked in butter in a cast iron skillet. The butter melts and coats the pan to help form a golden crust on the chicken. It is cooked over medium heat, first without moving it to allow crust formation, then flipped and cooked through until reaching a safe internal temperature of 165°F. Resting the chicken for 5-10 minutes after cooking helps the juices redistribute for tenderness.

The seasoning blend and butter contribute a subtle spiced and buttery flavor profile. Cooking in the skillet ensures the outside gets nicely seared and browned, while the interior stays juicy. This recipe is suited to quick home cooking when a simple seasoned chicken breast is desired.

This blackened chicken can be served as a main protein for dinner alongside vegetables or grains. It also complements salads or sandwiches. The well-seasoned crust adds textural contrast to the tender inside. Since the method involves pan-cooking, a cast iron skillet is ideal for best crust development.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 chicken breast
  • 2-4 Tablespoons butter
  • poultry magic seasoning

Instructions

  1. Begin melting butter in cast iron skillet over medium heat.
  2. Season both sides of your chicken with Poultry Magic and a little salt (if desired).
  3. When the butter has melted, place the chicken in the skillet. Do not move after you place it down (this could mess up the crust we want to form). Cover with a lid.
  4. Cook three to four minutes, then flip the chicken over. Cook another 3-4 minutes. Check temperature (I use an instant-read thermometer) and continue cooking, flipping every few minutes, until the chicken is 165° in the thickest part.
  5. Remove from cast iron skillet and allow the chicken to rest 5-10 minutes, then serve.
