Easy 30 Minute Chicken Chow Mein

Easy 30 Minute Chicken Chow Mein features stir-fried chicken and vegetables tossed with cooked chow mein noodles in a savory oyster-soy sauce blend. The dish has a mix of tender chicken, crisp-tender carrots and cabbage, and soft noodles, coated in a flavorful sauce with ginger and garlic highlights. This quick meal combines individual ingredients for a balanced, satisfying takeout-style dinner made at home.

Description

This Chicken Chow Mein recipe starts by mixing a sauce with oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, chicken broth, garlic, and ginger, which imparts a rich umami flavor with aromatic ginger and garlic notes. Cooked chow mein noodles provide a chewy base. Chicken breast cubes are seasoned and stir-fried until browned and cooked through. Carrots and cabbage are added next and cooked until just tender, maintaining some crunch and freshness.

The prepared sauce is poured over the chicken and vegetables, thickening slightly due to the cornstarch. The noodles are combined with the saucy stir-fry and garnished with sliced green onion, adding a subtle sharpness. The dish showcases a home-cooked version of a classic Chinese-American favorite.

Notes mention flexibility with noodle types—crunchy chow mein, refrigerated or dried lo mein, or even spaghetti can be used, allowing easy substitutions based on availability.
