Easy almond cherry crisp

This homemade cherry crisp recipe is filled with juicy cherries and topped with a crisp, golden oat and almond crumble.

Ingredients

  • 500 g / 1lb Cherry pitted
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • salt pinch

For the crisp

  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup almonds flaked
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • salt pinch

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F.
  2. Place the pitted cherries in a large bowl then add the sugar, cornstarch and salt. Mix well.
  3. Transfer the filling to a baking dish or pie dish.
  4. To make the topping, combine the melted butter with the oats, almonds, cinnamon, sugar and salt.
  5. Sprinkle the topping mixture over the cherries.
  6. Place the crisp in the preheated oven and allow to bake for 20-30 minutes until the juices have thickened and the toping is golden brown and crisp.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving with ice cream or whipped cream.
