This Easy Artisan Bread is a must-make! The outside is crusty and the inside is soft and delicious. You won't believe how simple it is to make this wonderful bread!

Ingredients

  • 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons coarse salt
  • 3/4 cup water 105 to 110 degrees F, warm
  • 3/4 cup (6 ounces) beer room temperature, regular or non-alcoholic

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, yeast and salt together. Add the water and beer. Stir together with a wooden spoon or spatula until a shaggy/sticky dough forms.
  2. Cover bowl with a dish towel. Allow the dough to sit at room temperature for at least 8 hours. If you want a denser bread you can let it rise up to 24 hours.
  3. Sprinkle 1 Tablespoon of flour on a clean countertop. Pour the dough out onto the flour. Fold the dough over a couple of times. Sprinkle the top with a pinch of flour.
  4. Tear off a 2 foot sheet of plastic wrap. Spray the entire thing with cooking spray. Place dough onto the center of greased plastic wrap and then fold plastic wrap to cover dough entirely. Allow the dough to rest again for 30 minutes to rise.
  5. Meanwhile, place a dutch oven with the lid on (I use my Le Creuset dutch oven) in the oven. Turn the oven on to 440 degrees F. Let the oven heat with the dutch oven inside for 30 minutes.
  6. *(If you don't have a dutch oven you can use a baking sheet that has been oiled generously, but no need to warm in the oven while preheating.)
  7. *Please be careful and use oven mitts so you don't burn yourself! Remove the lid from the hot pot. Gently lift the dough over to the oven and drop it out of the plastic and into the hot pot. Cover with lid and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. If using oiled baking sheets, drop dough from the plastic and onto the baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes. Serve bread warm and enjoy!
