Easy Biscuit Donuts (In The Air Fryer!)
Description
The recipe uses refrigerated biscuit dough, removing the centers to form donut shapes and reserving the inner dough pieces as donut holes. The donuts cook in the air fryer at 350°F until golden and puffed, avoiding deep frying. A mixture of cinnamon and white sugar, combined with melted butter, creates a classic sweet coating after cooking.
The air fryer method yields donuts with a light exterior crispness and a tender, slightly flaky interior due to the biscuit dough. The cinnamon sugar coating adds sweetness and a warm spice, enhancing the overall flavor.
The donut holes can be cooked similarly in the air fryer or baked, making use of all the dough. This provides a convenient way to enjoy two forms of donut-style treats with minimal fuss.
The notes provide alternate baking instructions and confirm that the coating should be applied while the treats are warm for best adherence. The recipe is adaptable for oven cooking if an air fryer is unavailable.
Ingredients
- 16 ounce Biscuits like Pillsbury, refrigerated
- ¾ cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon ground
- 3 tablespoons butter melted
Instructions
- Preheat the airfryer to 350 degrees. Remove biscuits from can and separate the individual pieces.
- Remove the center of each biscuit with a small cookie cutter or a circular bottle cap at least an inch wide to make a donut shape. Set the center of the biscuit dough to the side to make them into donut holes.
- Place donuts into the air fryer basket with space in between, working in batches. Spray both sides of the donut lightly with spray oil.
- Cook for 4-5 minutes, turning the donuts halfway through cook time.
- Combine sugar and cinnamon in a shallow, wide bowl. Melt butter in a medium size microwave-safe bowl. Both bowls need to be wide enough to fit the donut inside.
- Dip both sides of each donut in the melted butter. Immediately dip the butter-covered donut in cinnamon sugar on both sides.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Donuts can be baked at 375°F for 10-15 minutes if you don't have an air fryer; flip halfway through baking.
- Cook donut holes at 350°F for 3-4 minutes in the air fryer or bake at 375°F for 8-10 minutes before coating with butter and cinnamon sugar.
- Coating the donuts and holes while warm helps the cinnamon sugar stick well.
