Easy Bolognese Sauce (No Wine)
Description
This recipe combines browned ground beef cooked with diced onion for a deep base flavor, then adds chopped carrots, celery, bell pepper, garlic, and a cube of beef stock. Tinned chopped tomatoes are incorporated and the sauce simmers gently until it thickens and the vegetables soften. Italian herbs and parsley add aromatic notes and layered flavor.
The absence of wine keeps the flavor straightforward and accessible, while cooking the beef until it is nicely browned intensifies the meaty taste and dryness of the sauce. The result is a thick, well-rounded Bolognese sauce with a mix of tender vegetables and minced meat suited for spooning over pasta or using in other dishes.
There is no added water as the tomatoes provide sufficient liquid, and helping the sauce cook until very soft ensures it binds well. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper at the end to taste. This sauce is practical for everyday meals with flexible portion sizes.
