Easy Caesar Dressing Recipe (VIDEO)
Description
The Easy Caesar Dressing Recipe combines mayo, mustard, Worcestershire, garlic, and lemon juice into a base before slowly whisking in a mild extra light olive oil to form a creamy emulsion. Freshly grated Parmesan finishes the dressing, adding richness and umami. The gradual oil incorporation ensures the dressing thickens and holds together well. The garlic provides a sharp aroma, while the lemon juice gives a fresh, tangy note balancing the savory elements.
This dressing pairs classically with romaine lettuce and crunchy croutons but can also be used as a dip or sandwich spread. The creamy yet bright flavor enhances salads without overpowering.
Using a mild olive oil avoids bitterness and maintains a neutral taste. Depending on dietary needs, select Worcestershire sauce carefully, as some contain gluten or anchovies. Whisking vigorously and slowly adding oil is essential to emulsification. Refrigerate in a covered jar until ready to serve.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce *
- 2 garlic grated or pressed, cloves
- 3 Tbsp lemon juice from 1 large lemon, fresh
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper freshly ground
- 1/2 cup extra light olive oil not extra virgin*
- 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese freshly grated
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 2 tsp Dijon mustard, 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce, grated garlic, 3 Tbs lemon juice, salt, and pepper, and whisk to combine.
- While whisking vigorously*, slowly drizzle in 1/2 cup olive oil. Once all of the olive oil is in, continue whisking until it’s well incorporated. Add parmesan and whisk together to combine.
- Transfer to a mason jar, cover with a lid, and refrigerate until ready to use.
Notes
- Use Worcestershire sauce labeled gluten-free if you need to avoid gluten.
- Choose Worcestershire without anchovies to make the dressing vegetarian-friendly.
- Opt for mild-flavored light olive oil rather than extra virgin to maintain a balanced flavor profile.
- Whisk the oil in slowly and vigorously to ensure proper emulsification and a thick texture.
