Easy Cheesy Garlic Bread
Description
This recipe begins by preparing a garlic butter mixture using crushed garlic cloves blended with softened butter, olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper. The butter is spread evenly on halved French bread, which is then wrapped in foil and baked to warm through and meld the flavors into the bread. After 10 minutes, the bread is uncovered, topped with shredded cheddar and Parmesan cheeses, and returned to the oven allowing the cheeses to melt and form a golden topping.
The result is a bread with a balanced garlic flavor that permeates the soft loaf and a rich cheesy top with cheddar’s stronger flavor and Parmesan’s sharpness. The parsley adds a fresh, herbaceous note. Serving warm enhances meltiness and flavor.
This garlic bread accompanies salads, pasta dishes, or soups and can be sliced for sharing. To emphasize cheesy pull, mozzarella can be used or blended with other cheeses. Melting the butter first can intensify the garlic flavor by allowing it to soak deeper into the bread. Allow the bread to rest briefly before slicing to maintain structure and ease cutting.
Ingredients
- 200 g French bread
- 70 g butter
- 6 garlic crushed, clove
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pinch sea salt

- 4 g parsley finely chopped, fresh

Notes
- Melt the butter before mixing the garlic in to ensure the garlic flavor permeates the bread thoroughly.
- Use freshly grated cheese rather than pre-grated for better melting and texture.
- Allow the bread to rest a few minutes after baking before slicing to make cutting easier and prevent tearing.
- For a stronger cheese pull, substitute or add mozzarella cheese when topping before final baking.
