  • 200 g French bread
  • 70 g butter
  • 6 garlic crushed, clove
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 40 g cheddar cheese grated
  • 20 g parmesan grated
  • 4 g parsley finely chopped, fresh

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C/180°C(fan)/400°F/Gas 6.
  2. In a bowl, mix together 70 g Butter, 1 tablespoon Olive oil, 6 Garlic clove and 1 pinch Sea salt and ground black pepper.
  3. Half 200 g French stick lengthways and spread over the garlic butter.
  4. Wrap in foil and bake for 10 minutes. Open the foil and sprinkle over 40 g Cheddar cheese and 20 g Parmesan.
  5. Return to the oven and bake for a further 5 minutes. Remove from the oven and sprinkle over 4 g Fresh parsley.
  6. Slice and serve.

Notes

  • Melt the butter before mixing the garlic in to ensure the garlic flavor permeates the bread thoroughly.
  • Use freshly grated cheese rather than pre-grated for better melting and texture.
  • Allow the bread to rest a few minutes after baking before slicing to make cutting easier and prevent tearing.
  • For a stronger cheese pull, substitute or add mozzarella cheese when topping before final baking.
