Easy Cherry Crisp

For the Filling

  • 4 cups Cherry fresh or frozen
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg

For the Topping

  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup flour all purpose
  • ¾ cup oats old fashioned
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon cloves ground
  • ½ cup butter 1 stick, cold

Instructions

For the Filling

  1. Preaheat the oven to 400ºF.
  2. Combine all of the filling ingredients in a large bowl, mix well.
  3. Pour into a greased 8x8 baking dish or a 12 inch cast iron skillet.

For the Topping

  1. Stir together all of the ingredients except the butter.
  2. Cut in the butter until the pieces are the size of rasins.
  3. Sprinkle it evenly over the top of the filling in the baking dish or skillet.
  4. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the edges are bubbly and the top is deep golden brown.
  5. Let cool before serving so it has time to thicken.
