Easy Chocolate Fudge

This Easy Chocolate Fudge uses a simple combination of chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk, melted together to create a dense and creamy treat. The fudge sets quickly for easy slicing and can be customized by adding mix-ins like marshmallows, nuts, or peppermint. A sprinkle of sea salt flakes adds a contrasting hint of saltiness, balancing the sweet chocolate. It’s ideal to prepare when you want a straightforward no-bake dessert to serve at room temperature or as a snack.

Description

Easy Chocolate Fudge is made by melting a mix of chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk until smooth, then poured into a lined pan to set. The quick setting fudge develops a firm yet creamy texture that slices cleanly into squares. Optional additions like marshmallows, nuts, peppermint, or toffee can be stirred in for varied flavors. A touch of sea salt flakes on top can enhance the chocolate’s richness by adding subtle salty notes.

The fudge doesn’t require refrigeration but chilling in the fridge helps it firm up faster. A sharp knife warmed in hot water cuts through the fudge cleanly, making neat portions. This treat is easy to customize and can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature, ready for casual snacking or sharing.

Use a mix of semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips to balance flavor.Be careful not to overheat the chocolate to avoid grainy texture.Customize the fudge by adding mix-ins like nuts, marshmallows, peppermint, or toffee bits.Store in an airtight container at room temperature; refrigeration is not necessary.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 1/3 cups (14 ounces) chocolate chips or chocolate bars, chopped
  • (1) ounce can sweetened condensed milk

Optional:

  • sea salt flakes Maldon's brand
  • Mix-in ideas below

Instructions

  1. Place the chocolate and sweetened condensed milk in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Place in the microwave and cook in short 30-second intervals, stirring after each cooking interval. It should take about 2 minutes for it to melt. Be careful not to overcook! If there are still lumps, continue to cook until it is smooth.
  3. This chocolate fudge sets fast so pour into a parchment paper-lined 9 x 9 pan, spreading it evenly. If using, sprinkle with sea salt flakes. Cover and allow it to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes and then transfer to the refrigerator to continue to set up.
  4. When ready to cut into squares, use a sharp knife. You may dip the knife in a glass of hot water to make it slide easier through the fudge.
  5. Store in an airtight container at room temperature. This fudge doesn't need to be refrigerated.

Notes

  • Use a combination of semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips for balanced flavor.
  • Heat the chocolate mixture gently and stir frequently to prevent graininess.
  • Add mix-ins such as mini marshmallows, chopped nuts, crushed candy canes, or toffee bits for different variations.
  • Store fudge at room temperature in an airtight container; it's not necessary to refrigerate it.
