Ingredients
- 12 ounces semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 1 cup mini pretzel twists
- 11 ounces Kraft caramel candies
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- coarse sea salt for topping
Instructions
- Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a microwave safe bowl, add the chocolate chips and vegetable oil and microwave at 60% power level for 30 seconds. Then stir and repeat.
- Stir once again and repeat one more time. The bowl is usually warm enough for it to continue melting as you stir them. Be careful not to overheat or it will seize and become too thick.
- Pour ¾ of the chocolate mixture onto the parchment paper and spread it into a thin layer.
- Place the pretzels all over the top of the melted chocolate.
- In a separate microwave safe bowl, add the unwrapped caramels and the heavy cream. Heat for 30 seconds. Then stir and repeat one or two more times until completely melted.
- Using a spoon, drop spoonfuls of the melted caramel over the pretzels and swirl with the spoon.
- Drop the remaining chocolate mixture by spoonfuls over the caramel, and swirl to combine. Reheat the chocolate for a few more seconds if it has thickened.
- Sprinkle with coarse sea salt, if desired.
- Chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours for it to set.
- Break into pieces.
Notes
- Add your favorite chopped nuts.
- Add butterscotch chips, M&M's, Reese's pieces or sprinkles if you'd like.
- Use milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler if desired.
- Make your own homemade caramel sauce or by heating a ½ cup of brown sugar and a ½ cup of butter in a pot on the stovetop. Boil it for about 3 minutes until bubbly then spoon onto the chocolate layer.
