Easy Cinnamon Baked Apples

Easy cinnamon baked apples are the delicious old-fashioned dessert that everyone loves! Hollowed out apples are stuffed with a delicious blend of brown sugar, spice, raisins, and butter and baked until tender. Serve with plenty of vanilla ice cream or evaporated milk, and whipped cream.

  • 4 large apple or other types of baking apples, Rome variety
  • 1/4 packed cup (50g) brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup (56g) butter cubed, divided
  • 1 cup (240ml) water boiling
  • vanilla ice cream for serving, or evaporated milk or whip cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and set the rack to the middle level.
  2. With a fork, combine half of the butter, brown sugar, raisins, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Using a paring knife, core the apples and then use a spoon to scoop out the core and remaining seeds.
  4. Stuff the apples with the sugar mixture then place them into a baking dish. Top each apple with the remaining butter. Pour the water into the dish around the apples. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until the apples are very soft when pierced with a knife but not falling apart. Serve with vanilla ice cream, evaporated milk, or even whipped cream. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Chopped nuts, oats, and dried berries all work well for this simple dessert.
  • Serve with ice cream, evaporated milk, or whipped cream.
  • The cooking time is a rough estimate.  Cook the apples until they are very tender, but not falling apart.
  • Leftovers can be saved in the fridge for up to 3 days and can be reheated in the oven or microwave.
