Easy Deconstructed Spring Roll in a Jar

This Easy Deconstructed Spring Roll in a Jar layers seasoned pork, sautéed vegetables, cooked shrimp, and rice vermicelli noodles in a jar with sweet Thai chili sauce at the bottom. The pork is browned with oyster sauce, tamari, and garlic powder for savory depth, while the vegetables are quickly sautéed with soy for softness. The assembly in a jar keeps components separate until ready to eat.

Description

The recipe starts by browning pork and seasoning it with oyster sauce, tamari, and garlic powder. The cooked pork is rested to absorb flavors and drain excess liquid. Shrimp are optionally tossed briefly in the wok to pick up some pork flavors but remain cooked and tender.

Carrots and cabbage are sautéed with tamari sauce until softened to preference. Rice vermicelli noodles are boiled briefly according to package instructions.

To assemble, the Thai sweet chili sauce is placed at the bottom of a mason jar, then layers of vermicelli, vegetables, shrimp, and pork follow, allowing the eater to mix or eat layered elements as preferred. Basil and crushed peanuts can be added for additional flavor and texture.

Instructions

  1. In a large non-stick pan, brown the pork then add the oyster sauce, tamari, and garlic powder and cook through.
  2. Once the pork is cooked through, place your pork to the side on top of some paper towels to absorb the liquid.

  4. In the same wok, saute the carrot and cabbage with tamari sauce until it's softened to your liking.
