Easy Elephant Ears
Description
Easy Elephant Ears feature dough made from flour, salt, and baking powder mixed with warm water to form a pliable dough. After a short resting period, the dough is divided and rolled into thick circles. These are fried in hot oil until they turn golden and puff up slightly, creating a crisp exterior with a tender interior. While still warm, the dough pieces are sprinkled with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar, which adheres to the surface for a sweet and aromatic coating. The frying method yields a light fried treat that is best enjoyed fresh and warm.
The cinnamon sugar topping complements the dough’s mildly savory base, adding a balance of sweet spice that enhances each bite. The frying oil depth and temperature are key to achieving the right texture — enough hot oil to submerge the dough ensures even frying and puffing. This recipe makes six elephant ears, perfect for sharing or serving alongside a warm beverage
