Easy Greek Souvlaki
Description
Easy Greek Souvlaki centers around chicken breast chunks marinated in lemon juice, zest, olive oil, honey, red wine vinegar, oregano, garlic, salt, and pepper. The marinade infuses the meat with citrusy, herbal, and slightly sweet notes. After marinating, the chicken is skewered and grilled until cooked through, offering juicy pieces with a pleasant char.
The accompanying Greek yogurt sauce blends yogurt, lemon juice, cucumber, dill, salt, and pepper, providing a cool, creamy counterpoint to the grilled chicken. Fresh cucumber slices, cherry tomatoes, and kalamata olives add additional fresh and savory dimensions, completing the meal with vibrant Mediterranean elements.
Serving the skewers with the yogurt sauce and fresh veggies makes for a wholesome, balanced meal. The flavors are bright and clean, emphasizing herbs, citrus, and garlic. This recipe suits grilling enthusiasts wanting a classic Greek-inspired dish that's easy to prepare at home.
Ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F for safety. Bamboo skewers should be soaked before grilling to avoid burning. Maple syrup can substitute honey, and plant-based yogurt can replace Greek yogurt for dairy-free versions. Leftovers store well refrigerated for up to four days.
