Easy Grilled Asparagus (with Parmesan)
Description
This recipe selects thick asparagus spears for grilling to achieve a charred exterior without overcooking, preserving a firm yet tender texture. After trimming the woody ends by snapping naturally at the break point, the spears are tossed in olive oil and seasoning. Grilled over medium-high heat for 6 to 8 minutes with occasional turning develops grill marks and enhances flavor.
Lemon halves are optionally grilled alongside the asparagus to add a fresh citrus component when squeezed over the finished dish. Adding freshly grated Parmesan cheese immediately after grilling gives a salty, creamy contrast to the smokiness and vegetal sweetness of the asparagus. A pat of butter can be added when serving to enrich the flavor and texture further.
The recipe accepts alternative cooking methods like using a grill pan or foil-wrapped bundles. Medium-high heat helps combine charring with tenderness appropriately.
Proper trimming and grilling technique are key to achieving a well-textured side that complements a wide range of meals.
