Ingredients
- 3 avocado pitted, ripe Hass variety
- lime about 1½ tablespoons, juice from 1 small
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ground black pepper to taste
- onion optional add-ins; onion minced, jalapeno seeded and minced, tomato seeded and diced, corn grilled or roasted
- cilantro
- jalapeno pepper
- cumin
- tomato
- corn
- salsa
Instructions
- Scoop the flesh out of each pitted avocado. Place the avocado in a medium bowl.
- Use a fork or a potato masher to mash the avocado until it's relatively smooth. You can leave some larger chunks if you like; this is just a matter of personal preference.
- Stir in the lime juice, kosher salt, garlic powder, and ground black pepper.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. This is also a great time to add any other mix-in's that you'd like, such as diced tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, cilantro, or fresh salsa.
Notes
- Thanks to the acidic lime juice in the guacamole (which prevents excessive browning), you can prepare the dip a few hours in advance of when you plan to serve it. Keep it covered tightly in the fridge with plastic wrap touching its surface.
