Easy Homemade Beer Bread

Easy Homemade Beer Bread combines flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and beer for a quick bread with a moist crumb and mild yeast flavor. The melted butter brushed on top adds richness and develops a golden crust during baking. The method requires minimal mixing and no yeast activation. The resulting loaf is dense yet tender, suitable for slicing alongside meals or for sandwiches.

Description

This Easy Homemade Beer Bread uses a straightforward mix of sifted flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and a can of beer. The beer acts as a leavening agent and flavor contributor, making yeast unnecessary. After mixing, the batter is placed in a greased loaf pan and brushed with melted butter before baking.

Baking at 350°F for nearly an hour yields a loaf with a golden crust and soft interior. The bread’s flavor has faint malty notes from the beer, balanced by subtle sweetness from sugar.

This bread pairs well with soups, stews, or as a base for sandwiches. It requires no prior rising time and is a convenient quick-bread option when yeast is unavailable or time is tight.

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 can beer (12 ounces / 33 cl )(of choice / room temperature but not flat)
  • 1/2 cup butter (melted / divided)

**I sifted the flour two times, the second time I sifted the flour, baking powder and salt together.

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350F (180C), grease and flour an 9x5 inch loaf pan (23 x 12 centimeters)
  2. In a medium bowl add sifted flour mixture and sugar, beer and 1/4 cup of the melted butter.  Mix together with a wooden spoon just until combined. (I did 18 stirs with a wood spoon).
  3. Spoon the mixture into the prepared loaf pan top with the remaining 1/4 cup of melted butter and bake for approximately 55 - 60 minutes, check for doneness with a toothpick.
  4. Let sit in loaf pan for 5 minutes before removing, then let sit 10 minutes before cutting.  Enjoy!
