Description
Easy Homemade Cranberry Jam involves simmering cranberries with sugar and water, enhanced by fresh orange juice, zest, and cinnamon, bringing brightness and warm spice to the tangy berries. As the jam cooks, the cranberries burst and thicken the mixture naturally. The final texture can be chunky using a masher or smooth if blended.
This jam pairs well with toast, biscuits, or as a condiment for meats and cheeses. Its balance of sweet and tart flavors makes it adaptable for different meals and occasions.
The jam should be stored in airtight glass containers in the refrigerator where it keeps up to three weeks. It freezes well for 6 to 8 months and can be preserved via traditional canning methods for up to a year, providing flexible storage options.
Ingredients
- 12 ounces Cranberry fresh or frozen, 3½ cups
- 1¼-1½ cups granulated sugar
- ⅓ cup water
- 1 tablespoon orange juice fresh
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- In a large pot add the cranberries, sugar, water, orange juice, zest and cinnamon, stir to combine.
- On high/medium heat, bring the ingredients to a boil stirring occasionally, lower heat to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes or until it thickens and all the berries have popped.
- As the jam is cooking you can mash it with a potato masher or once the mixture has cooked and thickened you can use a blender, immersion blender or food processor to blend until smooth if desired. I used a potato masher and left the jam on the chunkier side.
- Spoon into clean airtight containers or jars. Enjoy!

- Store cranberry jam in airtight glass jars and refrigerate; it stays good for up to three weeks.
- For long-term storage, you can freeze the jam in freezer-safe containers for 6 to 8 months.
- Canning the jam extends shelf life to 10 to 12 months; sterilize jars properly before preserving.
