  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil plus additional for brushing the dough
  • ¾ cup water warm

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup of flour, the yeast, sugar, salt, and garlic powder.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons olive oil and the warm water and mix well.
  3. Gradually stir in another 1 cup flour, stirring until the dough forms a soft, elastic ball. Use the remaining 1/3 cup flour only if needed. The dough should still be slightly sticky, but able to form a ball.
  4. Prepare a large, clean bowl by very generously brushing with olive oil.
  5. Transfer the dough ball to the bowl and turn once so that the dough is lightly oiled on all sides. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and set aside in a warm place to rise until doubled, 30-60 minutes.
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down then transfer to a floured surface and knead for 1 minute until smooth.
  7. Roll the dough into a large circle, then place on a pizza pan. Poke the dough all over with a fork, then brush the dough with olive oil.
  8. To make the pizza, preheat the oven to 425F. Top the dough with pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and the toppings of your choice. Bake the pizza at 425F for 12-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and reaches your desired level of doneness. Cut the pizza into wedges and serve warm.
